Appointments within the Group Management Committee

Societe Generale announces the following appointments within the Group Management Committee:

Marie-Christine Ducholet is appointed Head of Societe Generale retail banking in France effective from 1 June 2019. Backed by over 34 years of experience within the Group, Marie-Christine has developed a strong banking industry expertise especially in terms of financing companies of all sizes, while working within the corporate & investment banking division then within Societe Generale Equipment Finance.  Working for Societe Generale retail banking activities in France since 2017, Marie-Christine will continue to develop and transform Societe Generale network in France, while innovating to better service our clients.

Laurent Goutard is appointed head of international retail banking for Africa, Mediterranean Basin & Overseas effective from 1 July 2019.  Laurent has a 33 years career with the Group and has spent the last 10 years heading of Societe Generale Retail Banking in France. He has contributed to maintain a dynamic commercial momentum and has launched ambitious transformations to adapt to technological changes and new customer behaviors. Laurent has already experienced international banking activities as he was Member of Board of Directors and CEO, then Chairman of the Board of Société Générale Marocaine de Banques from 1998 to 2007 and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Komercní banka from 2005 to 2009.

Alexandre Maymat is appointed Head of Global Transaction and Payment Services effective from 1 September 2019. Alexandre has spent the last 7 years modeling Societe Generale’s pan-African strategy, making the Group one of the leading banking players on the continent. He has contributed to build a robust model combining sustainable growth, innovation and efficiency in a rapidly growing continent while paying close attention to the development of local talents. Alexandre has acquired a deep knowledge of the needs of corporate clients, be them large or small, which will undoubtedly benefit to the Global Transaction and Payment Services business unit.

Pascal Augé is appointed Head of the Inspection and Audit division, effective from 1 November 2019 replacing Jean-Marc Giraud who will retire next November. Pascal has spent over 33 years within the Group with experiences in France and internationally notably in the corporate & investment banking division. Heading Global Transaction and Payment Services since 2013, Pascal has contributed to position Societe Generale as a solid player in transaction banking (cash management and payments, trade, factoring and correspondent banking. His qualities and his very good knowledge of all the Group's business lines will be an asset to reinforce the key role of the Inspection and Audit division recognized as a field of excellence.

These changes are good examples of the management of career development within Societe Generale group. Marie-Christine Ducholet, Laurent Goutard, Pascal Augé, Alexandre Maymat have all successfully developed the activities they have lead. We will capitalise on what they have delivered and on their experiences to further reinforce our strengths in each of these key businesses. I wish them every success in their new duties. I would also like to very warmly thank Jean-Marc Giraud for his commitment and his major contribution to the Group over 37 years.

Biographies:

Marie-Christine Ducholet
Head of Societe Generale Retail Banking in France, effective from 1 June 2019
Marie-Christine Ducholet joined Societe Generale in 1985. From 1990 to 2001, she held different commercial functions within the Structured Finance department, in particular for the Real Estate and Commodities sectors. Joining the Strategic Acquisition and Finance department of the Corporate and Investment Bank in 2001 in charge of a portfolio of French and Spanish clients, she was subsequently given responsibility for all European activities. In 2008, she was appointed Co-Head of Strategic Acquisition and Finance worldwide. In 2011, she joined the management team of Societe Generale Equipment Finance, and was appointed Chief Executive Officer of SGEF in October 2011. In 2017, Marie-Christine Ducholet was appointed Head of Client Relations for Societe Generale Retail Banking activities in France.

Laurent Goutard
Head of International Retail Banking for Africa, the Mediterranean Basin & Overseas, effective from 1 July 2019
Laurent Goutard joined Societe Generale group in 1986, working until 1993 in the General Inspection department. Between 1993 and 1998, he held various management positions within the retail network in France, first as Deputy Director of the Paris-Opéra Large Corporate Agency and then as Business Manager in the Large Clients Department. From 1998 to 2004, he held the position of Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board of Société Générale Marocaine de Banques, Societe Generale’ subsidiary in Morocco. In 2004, he joined Komercni banka, the Group's subsidiary in the Czech Republic, as Vice-Chairman of the Executive Board and Deputy Chief Executive Officer. In 2005, he was appointed Chairman of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of Komercni banka. In 2009, he was appointed Head of Societe Generale Retail Banking in France.
Laurent Goutard is a graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris and of the University of Paris Dauphine.

Alexandre Maymat
Head of Global Transaction and Payment Services, effective from 1 September 2019
Alexandre Maymat began his career in the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance in 1992, and then worked at the European Union.
He joined Societe Generale group in 2001 in the General Inspection department, then moved to the French retail banking division heading the Corporate Business Centre of the Regional Directorate of Paris Bourse in 2004, then becoming in 2006 as Regional Head for Franche Comté. In 2009, he became Director and CEO of Société Générale de Banques au Cameroun.
In 2012, Alexandre Maymat was appointed Deputy Head of International Retail Banking before becoming Head of International Retail Banking for Africa, the Mediterranean Basin & Overseas in 2012.
Alexandre Maymat is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the École Nationale de Statistiques et d'Administration Économique.

Pascal Augé
Head of the Inspection and Audit division, effective from 1 November 2019
Pascal Augé began his career at Societe Generale group in 1986. After working for eight years in the Group's General Inspection department he joined Corporate and Investment Banking as Deputy Head of the Media and Telecom group. In 1997 he became Deputy Head for Western Europe. In 1998, he took over as Head of Corporate Banking in London, and was then Country Head for Germany in 2001 and then for Italy in 2005. In 2007, Pascal Augé was appointed Director of Human Resources at Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking (SG CIB), and in 2009 he became Head of Western Europe for SG CIB.
Pascal Augé was appointed Deputy Head of Global Transaction Banking in 2012, and then Head of Global Transaction and Payment Services in 2013.
Pascal Augé is a graduate of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC).
