Further confirmation of Societe Generale's ESG leadership at Euromoney awards
Just a few months after winning the prestigious IFR ‘Bank for Sustainability’ award and several categories at Global Finance's Sustainable Finance Awards 2024, Societe Generale has once again been recognised for its commitment to sustainable finance and its global sustainability strategy.
At the Euromoney Awards ceremony, Societe Generale won several awards, including ‘Best Transition Strategy’ for the third year in a row. These awards recognise the efforts made by the Group to transform itself and support its clients in their transition.
Our commitment to sustainability rewarded
For over 30 years, Euromoney has been rewarding banks and bankers with a comprehensive programme of awards that has become a benchmark for the industry worldwide.
In awarding these prizes to Societe Generale, they considered that “decarbonisation targets are the litmus test of an organisation’s dedication to transitioning to a low carbon economy. By 2030, Societe Generale will cut its financing of upstream oil and gas by 80% versus 2019, with an intermediate step of by 50% by 2025. In terms of financed GHG emissions, that equates to a 70% reduction by 2030 - almost double the 34% that the International Energy Agency’s Net Zero scenario says will be required.”
Our purpose: building together, with our clients, a better and sustainable future
Committed to the transition to a sustainable world, Societe Generale Group has indeed launched the decarbonisation of its activities and invested in the development of innovative solutions and partnerships to accompany its clients.
